Title: Illustration 5: Absolved Character Archetype #3 - Germs
Date: September 17 - 30, 2014
Medium: Photoshop CS6
Scale: Sketches vary, Final is 11" x 17"

Notes: This one kind of surprised me a little. It was definitely a super fun piece to work on, and I have a ton more that I want to do!
Overall, the marionettes have always been the most intriguing to me. I want to paint them a ton more!
This is the final for character number three. More to come.

Digital Painting: Shaving is a Bitch

Title: Digital Painting: Shaving is a Bitch
Date: September 26 & 30, 2014
Medium: Photoshop CC / CS6
Scale: Original is 3000px x 3000px

Notes: Continuing on the digital painting portrait tradition, here's the first of many to come. Using portraits that we took, we were to basically copy what we see and try to replicate it to the best of our ability. Each portrait will have a different feel to it. Again, this is the first of many.
As a side note, we were to save every fifteen minutes. The result is below.

Notes: Okay... so... I HATE TAKING SELF-PORTRAITS! I feel like an absolute dork no matter what I do in them.
That being said, I decided in the pictures to take it to the maximum dorkitude!
Going to pick four of them and paint them for the assignment coming up... UGH!

At least I can say that they were shot by my pappy-in-law. Who happens to be pretty nifty with a camera.

Date: September 22, 2014
Medium: Photoshop CS6
Scale: Original is 1500px x 1500px

Notes: Again, I was staring at the old Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale character portraits.
This is my second attempt at a fantasy character portrait done in that style. Trying to push into using reference effectively.
Also... here's where I'm getting ideas for the color schemes: http://www.seventhsanctum.com/generate.php?Genname=quickchar

And just for fun... here's the tutorial.

Illustration 5: Absolved Character Archetype #3 - Germs (WIP)

Title: Illustration 5: Absolved Character Archetype #2 - Vigilants
Date: September 22 & 23, 2014
Medium: Photoshop CS6
Scale: Original is 8.5" x 11"

Notes: This is very much a work in progress. Just trying to get a sketch down for class. I have much work to do, much more realization to do as well (especially with those cats). I'm not sure if I want to keep her hands static or have her more so interacting with her cats or laptop. Just quickly trying to throw down some lines and tone.

Digital Painting: Life Drawing

Title: Digital Painting: Life Drawing
Date: September 19, 2014
Medium: Photoshop CC
Scale: Each 'piece' varies.

Notes: Life drawing is not something I've done in quite some time, so this was really interesting to do. I can imagine without a laptop that doing this would be kind of ludicrously hard, but somehow the other people in my class managed to pull through. I notice that my colors are a bit strange and washed out. That probably had something to do with turning my laptop's brightness up, so if I try to do this again, I'll have to figure out how to adjust the brightness, contrast, and colors for the screen better so that I can get some more life-life colors in there.
It started with some quick one-minute poses and jumped all the way up to the last one being a forty-five minute sitting. Life drawing digitally is a whole different beast when compared to photo studies.
Regardless, it was pretty fun to experiment with and I would love to do more of it.
